Hilliard is gearing up for an exciting kickoff to the summer season with two family-friendly events that promise fun for all ages. According to the city's official website, the first is "Touch a Truck," an event where children can experience a variety of vehicles up close. Set for May 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wayne and Center streets parking lot in Downtown Hilliard, kids can get behind the wheel of a fire truck, explore a police cruiser, and even sit in a semi-truck. In addition, attendees can pick up a construction vest, enjoy inflatable games, and snap photos with a character dressed as a spotted dog.
Local businesses, including the Credit Union of Ohio, Amazon, Raising Cane’s, Rita’s of Hilliard, and Bone Dry Roofing, are sponsoring the event. The following day, May 16, families can extend their fun at "Opening Day at the Ballpark," from 6-9 p.m. at ballfields 1 to 4 in Municipal Park. The celebration features a screening of "Angels in the Outfield," complimentary popcorn, base running, and crafting.
Attendees of "Opening Day at the Ballpark" are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for comfort during the movie. Sponsorships such as Thai Orthodontics, Amazon, Beef O’Bradys, Hilliard Pediatric Dentistry, and Japanese Automotive have made this event possible. A notable contribution also comes from Bone Dry Roofing, which is providing the LED truck for the film screening, according to the City of Hilliard's announcement on their website.
With the summer event season heating up, the City of Hilliard hints at more to come, promising the return of favorite events and the addition of new ones. Community members should stay tuned for updates on the summer calendar as more information becomes available. For those looking to start their summer fun with community-centric activities, Hilliard's upcoming events are not to be missed.
