Hillsborough County is evaluating a series of pedestrian safety improvements for Apollo Beach Boulevard in response to the area’s growth and increasing transportation demands. Proposed changes include sidewalk upgrades, mid-block crossings, and possible lane reconfigurations to support bicycles and golf carts, as per the Hillsborough County website.
A key focus is sealing existing sidewalk gaps and potentially converting one traffic lane in each direction for shared bicycle and golf cart use. At the intersection of Fairway Boulevard and Manila Palm Way, the county is also considering the addition of left-turn lanes to improve traffic flow and safety, based on community feedback.
Residents can learn more and provide input at a public open house on Tuesday next week at 6:30 p.m. at Apollo Beach Elementary School. For those unable to attend in person, an online engagement period will run from Tuesday nect week through June 10. Feedback can be submitted at HCFL.gov/HCEngage.
