In a significant show of force against illicit activities, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) has recently completed an extensive two-day operation that resulted in 43 arrests, taking both drugs and illegal firearms off the streets of Tampa. As reported by WFLA, the sweep included 188 traffic stops, leading to the seizure of various narcotics such as fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
Breaking down the haul, deputies confiscated 130.6 grams of fentanyl, a potent opioid, 3.3 grams of cocaine, and 79.1 grams of cannabis, along with other substances including methamphetamine, oxycodone pills, spice, MDMA, and THC resin oil, FOX 13 News provided in detail. Among the arrested individuals were high-profile cases, such as Dexter Myers, a registered sex offender with an outstanding warrant, and Nicolas French, a documented MPR gang member found with cannabis resin and drug paraphernalia.
Some offender's actions were particularly audacious, like the duo Maxie Eddins, 49, and Jenna Clary, 32, who stirred a high-speed chase through residential areas and onto the I-4. Clary, in this instance, was discovered carrying over 127 grams of fentanyl. Eddins has a record of narcotics violations and now faces an array of charges, including fleeing from law enforcement, according to WTSP.
The operation spanned all five patrol districts of HCSO's Street Crimes Units, wielding results that Sheriff Chad Chronister suggests showcases their steadfast resolve to secure the community. "Our mission is simple—protect the people of Hillsborough County," Sheriff Chronister told WFLA. "When individuals threaten the safety of our community through reckless driving, gun crimes, or the trafficking of deadly narcotics like fentanyl, our deputies act swiftly and decisively. These operations send a clear message: safety in our neighborhoods will never be compromised." Despite the positive outcomes, Sheriff Chronister added that the arrests and seizures "reflect our commitment to protecting families and ensuring the safety of every community we serve. Through teamwork, intelligence-driven enforcement, and relentless follow-through, we're building a safer Hillsborough County—one operation at a time."
