The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, with police arriving around 3:20 p.m. following reports of gunfire. They discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds; one was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition, as per Click2Houston.
While initial reports indicated that two suspects had managed to quickly flee the area, FOX 26 Houston later confirmed that 20-year-old Jkwon Howard, matching the described suspect, was taken into custody not far from the scene. Law enforcement had to swiftly sift through witness statements to apprehend the suspect, who has since been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The large-scale response involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Hitchcock Police, Hitchcock ISD officers, Bayou Vista Police, Galveston County Sheriff's deputies, and a Texas City Police K-9 unit.
