A 911 call placed at 3:14 a.m. prompted law enforcement to rush to the 100 block of Phillips Drive, where deputies discovered the victim at 3:17 a.m. with a fatal upper body gunshot wound. According to a statement released by HCSO, the man was pronounced dead on the scene.
The sheriff's office has yet to disclose the identity of the deceased pending notification of kin. As the suspect remains at large, Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized in a statement obtained by WFLA, "Violence has no place in our neighborhoods, and our detectives are committed to uncovering the full truth of what happened." He called on local residents who may have seen or heard anything related to the incident to come forward.
