A Honduran national, Julian Alberto Rios-Andasol, has been sentenced to time already served following his guilty plea in federal court for the illegal reentry of a removed alien, as the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Troy Rivetti, disclosed earlier today. Rios-Andasol, 31, faced United States District Judge W. Scott Hardy and received a sentence of approximately 31 days of imprisonment, which he had already spent in custody, coupled with a forthcoming removal from the United States based on the conditions of his plea and sentence.
Rios-Andasol's legal troubles began after the Moon Township Police Department arrested him for driving an unregistered vehicle and without a valid license, both charges to which he pleaded guilty. Following this, immigration officials took note of his status in the country, and he was taken into custody on Tuesday. The government’s efforts in this case were led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski, who effectively pursued the prosecution, resulting in Rios-Andasol's fourth removal. Having been previously deported on three occasions between 2013 and 2019 without obtaining the necessary authorization to enter and stay in the U.S., this was Rios-Andasol's fourth removal.
The sentence marks another cog in the machine of Operation Take Back America, a robust initiative powered by the Department of Justice aimed at the eradication of criminal syndicates, tackling illegal immigration, and safeguarding local communities from violent criminals. According to the Department of Justice, Rios-Andasol has agreed to his removal from the U.S., which aligns with the overarching goals of the initiative.
