Honolulu has launched a new affordable housing project to address the city's housing affordability issues. The project was officially started last month with a groundbreaking ceremony. In a related effort, the Department of Human Resources held the Operation Hire Hawai‘i job fair, connecting job seekers with employers to support local employment and strengthen the economy, according to the Office of the Governor.
In April, Hawai‘i marked five years since the National Guard was called to action during the COVID-19 pandemic, which helped the state recover. Ha‘aheo Pride in Public Service Month was designated to recognize the contributions of state employees in improving local communities, as reported by the Office of the Governor.
The Governor stated, "Mahalo to all of our state employees for your dedication and hard work to make our communities better and safer," as mentioned by the Office of the Governor. The message emphasized the importance of teamwork in building a better future for Hawai‘i.
