A suspect has been apprehended and now faces charges after a deadly collision last Friday night on the Eastex Freeway in Houston. The Houston Police Department reports that 26-year-old Brandon Lynn Plattenburg is charged with intoxication manslaughter following the incident that occurred around 10 p.m. according to the Houston Police Department release. Details on the identity of the male victim killed in the crash are still forthcoming, with confirmation pending from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Houston police investigators say Plattenburg was driving a gray Dodge Ram 1500 northbound when he lost control, hit a wall, and the truck spun around, caught fire, and ended up facing the wrong way. Plattenburg managed to get out, but his passenger was trapped and died at the scene, as reported by the Houston Police Department.
After the crash, the driver was treated at a local hospital, where tests showed he was intoxicated. He was then charged, but no booking photo of Plattenburg was released. His case is now with the 174th State District Court. Houston Police Department are stressing how serious drinking and driving is and are continuing their efforts to see justice served.
