Houston police are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man in the parking lot of a business at 6607 West Fuqua Street. This incident, which left Michael Simmons dead, took place approximately at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by the Houston Police Department.
Responding to the reports of gunfire, officers learned upon arrival that the victim had suffered at least one gunshot wound. He was rapidly transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. An HPD Homicide Division, led by Sergeant W. Elsbury along with Detectives D. Arnold, J. Diaz, and A. Hernandez, is spearheading the ongoing investigation. Sources indicate that just prior to the shooting, Simmons appeared to have been in a verbal altercation with a group of individuals.
The persons of interest, seen fleeing the scene on foot westbound, are described as two black males and one black female, all thought to be between the ages of 17 and 20. Authorities have yet to release further details on their identities or possible whereabouts.
