Following the tragic incident that struck a Houston community in January, police have stepped up their efforts to track down the individuals responsible for a fatal shooting that ended the life of Deon Robinson, 23, and injured another man. As part of their investigation, the Houston Police Department has just released surveillance footage from the scene at 8811 Westheimer Road, where the violence unfolded in the early hours of the 19th.
The surveillance video could be a critical piece in solving the case, potentially helping to identify the two suspects who, at present, remain unspecified except for being described as black males in their 20s. The law enforcement officials are to actively encourage anyone with knowledge to come forward, a sentiment echoed in their appeal featured in a public statement on the City of Houston website.
According to the HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective R. Lujan, the incident unfolded as a result of an altercation between two groups of males, which escalated quickly to gunfire. Robinson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, Daqualaun Chandler, 22, attempted to escape the chaos, only to be involved in a traffic accident down the road. Despite his non life-threatening injuries, Chandler now faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and driving while intoxicated.
As the investigation proceeds, authorities are urging anyone with information about the identity of the suspects to contact the HPD Homicide Division or to speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers.
