
A fatal shooting occurred during a home break-in on Houston's northside, resulting in the death of a woman's ex-boyfriend and a high-speed police chase with another suspect, say reports from local authorities. According to Click2Houston, the ex-boyfriend, along with an accomplice, attempted to force entry into the woman's residence on Saddle Rock Drive when the woman's current boyfriend took action, shooting the intruders.
It was shortly before 1 a.m. when, as the attackers kicked down the front door the boyfriend shot, the ex-partner who later succumbed to his injuries near the street, while the second suspect fled in a gray Jeep leading law enforcement on a pursuit - this happened after the woman, whose identity has not been revealed, called the police as her boyfriend instructed her to hide in the closet, reports say. ABC13 noted that the chase escalated to speeds of 100 mph before the suspect crashed into a bayou near Frick Road.
The aftermath of the attempted burglary and subsequent violence has seen one man dead, the ex-boyfriend, and the second man apprehended by police officials after the pursuit; Houston Police Department's Lt. JP Horelica confirmed that the female resident and her current partner were unharmed in the incident.
