Human remains were discovered Saturday afternoon in southern Orange County, triggering an investigation by local authorities. According to WRAL, the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded after a person walking their dog found human remains around 2 p.m. on Hawk Ridge Road.
The discovery was made in a wooded area, as reported by investigators who are now working to identify the remains and determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Hawk Ridge Road is located off Dodsons Crossroad in the southern part of the county, north of Highway 54, approximately four miles northwest of Chapel Hill, ABC11 Raleigh-Durham reports.
