A student at Huron High School in New Boston has been arrested following a threat made to a fellow student during school hours, authorities confirmed. According to a report by CBS News Detroit, the 16-year-old was taken into custody after admitting to making the threat when questioned by police at their home.

After being notified of the incident by the high school administration, officers could quickly locate the student, who was not present on the school campus. The teen was subsequently transported to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center, where they are now being held pending a review of charges by the prosecutor's office, as noted in a statement on the Huron Township Department of Public Safety's Facebook page.

"With complete and full cooperation from school administration, we acted quickly to resolve this situation. Student and staff safety is always the top priority. From a public safety perspective, there was no reason to believe that students weren't safe to return to school today," said Everette Robbins, Huron Township Director of Public Safety, highlighting the swift response to the threat.

The situation has prompted a reminder about the importance of vigilance and communication within the school community. "As always, we thank the students who came forward and reported the threats appropriately. This is a good reminder for parents to have a discussion with their children to always say something if they see or hear something. Also remind them how powerful words are as they relate to threatening statements,” Robbins emphasized. By fostering an environment where students feel empowered to speak up, the school administration and police are keen to work together to maintain a safe educational setting, according to the Huron Township Director of Public Safety.
