U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has deported Oscar Lopez Delira, a 47-year-old Mexican national with a history of criminal convictions, back to Mexico after he illegally entered the United States three times. On May 27, Lopez was escorted from the Montgomery Processing Center to the Laredo Port of Entry where he was handed over to Mexican authorities, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reported.
Lopez, previously convicted for sexually exploiting a minor and illegal reentry, was first encountered by U.S. authorities in Dallas on January 2, 2001, after an initial illegal entry at an undetermined time and place he was arrested and returned to Mexico that same day. Despite his deportation, Lopez returned to the U.S. unlawfully, which led to his arrest on August 25, 2015, in Carrolton for the sex crimes, following which, he served time and was once again removed to Mexico in 2019, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Detailed in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement press release, Lopez faced legal repercussions in the U.S. courts where he was convicted on July 1, 2024, for his most recent illegal reentry that occurred on February 11, 2024, near Hidalgo, Texas, which resulted in an 18-month prison sentence. After completing his sentence at the Beaumont Federal Correctional Institution, he was transferred to ICE custody last Friday.
