In-N-Out Burger, the iconic California-based fast food chain, is in the midst of a significant expansion that will see the addition of three new locations in the Golden State. The popular burger joint will unveil new restaurants in Indio, Modesto, and Monrovia, as detailed on the company's Grand Openings page. This development is part of a larger growth strategy that includes new outposts in Arizona, Colorado, and Washington, marking the company's first foray into the Evergreen State.
A report from the ABC7 news states that while In-N-Out has teased fans with an "Opening Soon" status online, the Los Angeles Times has confirmed a 2025 scheduled opening for these locations. This comes on the heels of In-N-Out's recent announcement last year about a new store in Sylmar, which is yet to open its doors to the public.
According to an interview with Kathleen Hardesty, a spokesperson for In-N-Out, found in the Los Angeles Times, the Brighton, Colorado location has already started serving customers. Hardesty mentioned that the construction of the remaining establishments is ongoing and that, due to the unpredictable nature of development projects, no specific opening dates can be provided yet. The chain's aggressive expansion underlines a strategy to tap into regions experiencing high population growth, a move echoed by many in the fast food industry in response to shifting demographics and economic landscapes.
Jim Salera, a restaurant industry analyst at Stephens, noted that In-N-Out's growth is not about escaping California's operational challenges, like labor inflation and rising costs, as much as it is about optimizing their footprint. "It's easier to sell to somebody who already knows you," Salera told the Los Angeles Times, suggesting that tapping into areas with California expatriates could prove lucrative. The new restaurants are expected to leverage the familiarity and nostalgia of the brand among the expanding customer base.
The upcoming California locations will be situated at 82177 Ave. 42 in Indio, 3401 Oakdale Road in Modesto, and 560 W. Huntington Drive in Monrovia. Meanwhile, In-N-Out fans in Surprise, Arizona, can look forward to the new spot at 16440 W. Cactus Road. In-N-Out, which opened its first location outside California in Las Vegas in 1992, continues to uphold its tradition of careful, measured growth, extending its reach and keeping its loyal following satiated wherever they might have migrated.
