A tragic incident unfolded on the earlier today, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). A person, who has yet to be identified, reportedly climbed the bridge's cables before jumping to their death. The LAFD alerted the public to the fatality in a statement made available on their website earlier this morning. The event, denoted as Incident #0623, occurred at approximately 10:33 A.M.
Despite the swift response of emergency teams, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The LAFD was in Unified Command with the Los Angeles Port Police during the recovery operation. A LA Port Police boat was already on scene when personnel arrived and recovered the body from the water. Details regarding the age and gender of the person have not been released.
All further inquiries about the incident have been directed to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Log 808, the LA Port Police, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
