A shooting incident has occurred at Meridian Mall on May 30, with injuries reported in the chaos. According to the Lansing State Journal, the violence erupted near the Dick's Sporting Goods area in the parking lot around 1:25 p.m.
Meridian Township Police Chief Rick Grillo revealed that multiple shots were fired, leading to injuries. However, specifics on the number of victims or the severity of their wounds remain unclear. "The people involved were gone by the time we got here," Grillo said, confirming that some had sought medical attention post the event, as per Lansing State Journal. Despite the earlier concern, the chief announced that there was no remaining threat to the public, and the mall, except for a cordoned-off section of the lot, continued its operations.
In a statement on their social media, Meridian Township Police added, "The area has been secured and there is no threat to the public at this time. The Meridian Mall is open for business." They maintained that their investigation is ongoing.
