An 18-year-old man was inadvertently caught in a shooting incident linked to a road rage confrontation between two vehicles in Southwest Baltimore. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the wrist last night, according to reports from FOX Baltimore.
Baltimore Police were called to the 2700 block of Wegworth Lane at around 7:10 p.m. They soon learned that the injured teenager arrived at a local hospital on his own. While the teen was walking by, two cars were reportedly embroiled in a hostile exchange. During this encounter, at least one gunshot was fired from the passenger side of one of the vehicles, leading to the bystander's injury. Subsequently, another crash ensued involving both automobiles.
One of the vehicle's occupants, both the driver and a passenger, left the accident site on foot while the second driver remained at the scene unharmed. "Police don't believe that the shooting victim was involved in the incident," according to FOX Baltimore. This implies the teen was an unintended casualty of the roadside dispute.
Southern District Shooting detectives are conducting the investigation, with appeals being made for witnesses to provide information.
