A Poulsbo police officer was involved in a shooting that left one person dead last night. KOMO reported that the incident occurred in the area of Viking Way at Nordic Cove and led to road closures due to police activity. However, specific details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately provided by the authorities at the scene.
The Poulsbo Police Department, state officials, and the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident, which resulted in the road's closure at Sherman Hill Road Northwest, as detailed by KING5. Footage captured by KOMO 4 Drone shows a Poulsbo police vehicle in contact with the rear end of a silver car that appears to have veered off the road. Still, it remains unclear how this visual is connected to the fatality or the precise sequence of events that unfolded.
The Office of Independent Investigations (OII) has taken charge of the inquiry into the use of deadly force, with the group's media relations coordinator, Kimberly Garcia, confirming their involvement: "As of now, the information we can provide is that OII (Office of Independent Investigations) was notified of a use of deadly force incident in Poulsbo, we have responded to the incident and will be investigating," Garcia stated, as per My North West report.
