
Earlier today, an altercation at Wacko's Gentlemen's Club in Jacksonville escalated tragically when a man was shot and killed. Sgt. Steve Rudlaff of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office stated that the incident occurred around 2 a.m. and described the victim as a man between the ages of 30 and 40, according to First Coast News. Officers responding to reports of gunfire arrived to find the man critically injured from a gunshot wound.
The confrontation followed as the man left the establishment and got into an argument with other individuals, which swiftly turned deadly, leading to gunfire. In a statement obtained by News4Jax, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has so far detained two people at the scene but does not believe they were involved in the actual shooting.
Further details emerged as The Florida Times-Union noted the police found eight to ten shell casings from the same weapon at the scene. In a grim detail, the incident report states the victim was shot in the back of the head.
Sgt. Rudlaff has been quoted saying that the sheriff's office does "not believe that this incident is nothing else than isolated," aiming to cautiously assure the community in the aftermath of the violent event, as per First Coast News.
