
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has reported an arrest in a case that stemmed from a fatal shooting which occurred last year. The incident, which took the life of 28-year-old Shawndell Robinson, happened at the intersection of Arlington Road and Mayer Drive. Officers responding to the scene on October 23, 2024, found Robinson with a gunshot wound. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene, and his death was ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner's Office.
In a social media update from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, authorities detailed the progress of their investigation. According to the post, they have identified 28-year-old Michael Byron as the suspect responsible for the violent act. At the time of the update, Byron was being held in the Duval County jail on unrelated charges. After reviewing the evidence, homicide detectives identified Byron as the prime suspect and have secured a murder charge against him in connection with Robinson’s death.
Following their arrest announcement, the JSO expressed commitment to seeing the case through to just resolution in partnership with the State Attorney’s Office. "We’re committed to working alongside the State Attorney’s Office to ensure justice is served for Robinson’s loved ones," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office stated on their official Facebook page.
