The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office took to social media this week, as part of their "Wanted Wednesday" feature, to seek public assistance in identifying two men accused of a substantial theft. According to a Facebook post by the department, the images of the suspects were shared in connection with the alleged heist of nearly $5,000 worth of makeup from a cosmetic store in the Chimney Lakes area.
According to the sheriff's office, the duo dubbed "beauty bandits" seemed to do their dirty work in tandem—one acting as lookout while the other collected the products. Their method was to blatantly fill their bags and walk out without offering any semblance of payment. The post includes a hint of irony, suggesting that these men might not have been aware of the store's commercial nature, "Maybe this was their very first time inside a beauty store and they didn’t know they had to pay." It's the law enforcement’s way to publicly, yet playfully shame before they lay down the seriousness of the crime.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance in identifying suspects by encouraging anyone with information to come forward. Those with tips can contact the department directly at 904.630.0500 or leave an anonymous tip with First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1.866.845.TIPS. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. In addition to this case, the post also highlights other unsolved crimes on the department’s Unsolved Crimes page, inviting the community to assist in solving ongoing investigations.
