A tragic collision occurred near Jacksonville’s Acosta Bridge, where a 29-year-old woman lost her life, and two others sustained injuries, including a 1-year-old baby. The Florida Highway Patrol detailed that the woman was a passenger in a pickup truck traveling southbound on an exit ramp from Riverside Avenue to the Acosta Bridge shortly before noon on Sunday, ActionNewsJax reported.
The events took a tragic turn when the 38-year-old male driver attempted to change lanes between the north and southbound traffic on Riverside Avenue toward Water Street, according to the authorities, First Coast News reports, and in the lane transition, the vehicle collided with an attenuator dividing the two lanes, causing the mishap.
Following the incident, the driver, along with the toddler, who miraculously only sustained minor injuries, were transported to a local hospital; their current conditions are stable. However, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and, as News4Jax highlighted, "The woman, who FHP said was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene."
