A juvenile was arrested after a high-speed chase ensued when Vallejo Police Department officers identified a stolen vehicle on Redwood Parkway. The white Ford Fusion involved in the incident was confirmed as reported stolen during an armed carjacking in Oakland, according to a social media post from the Vallejo Police Department.
VPD officers spotted the vehicle last Thursday and conducted a records check to confirm its status. Upon attempting to stop the car, the young driver elected not to comply and instead decided to accelerate seriously, leading officers on a pursuit that spanned roughly 13 miles on westbound Interstate 80. The chase ultimately ended near Mare Island Way and Harbor Way in Vallejo.
The California Highway Patrol Air Unit was called in to support Vallejo police during the pursuit, culminating in an officer performing a precision immobilization technique to bring the stolen vehicle to a halt safely. A high-risk felony traffic stop followed, resulting in the safe detention of the driver. The juvenile, found to be operating the vehicle without a license, was then taken to the Solano County Juvenile Detention Facility.
After the incident, "The owner of the stolen vehicle was contacted and informed about the vehicle's status," Vallejo Police Department shared. The vehicle has since been towed from the scene. The post further states, "The juvenile's parent was contacted and advised of his actions and status." Vallejo Police Department reiterated its commitment to "protecting our community, removing dangerous offenders from our streets, and holding them accountable."
