Kannapolis will observe Memorial Day with city office closures and a scheduled public event at Veterans Park. According to the City of Kannapolis website, offices will be closed on Monday next week, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday next week. While yard debris collection will pause for the holiday, regular garbage and recycling services will continue as scheduled.
Parks in Kannapolis will remain open from dawn to dusk. Village Park attractions, including the train, carousel, and splash pad, will be available for $1.50 per ticket. Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday and Memorial Day.
A Memorial Day remembrance event is planned, beginning with a procession on Main Street at 11:30 a.m., followed by a program at 12 p.m. at Veterans Park, located at 119 N. Main Street. The event will include a keynote speaker and musical performances.
The event is organized by the City of Kannapolis in partnership with the Beaver-Pittman American Legion Post 115, Poston-Perkins Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8989, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, as seating may be limited.
