The Hawai'i Department of Transportation announced a full closure of the Temporary Kapaʻa Bypass Road between mile post 0 and 1.0, from Kūhiō Highway to Olohena Road. The closure will take place on May 27 and May 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during this time, according to the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
Lehua Street will be used as a detour while crews install new striping and markers following recent repaving. Travelers should plan accordingly, as the detour may affect local traffic, especially during peak hours. Hawaii Department of Transportation has set up variable message boards to provide updates on lane closures. For the latest information, residents and visitors can visit the Hawaii Department of Transportation website for weekly Kauaʻi lane closures.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation has scheduled additional dates on June 2 and June 6 in case weather delays the planned road maintenance. Travelers are advised to follow posted signs and traffic control instructions during the work. The maintenance aims to improve road safety and traffic flow.
