Kīpū Bridge on Kīpū Road will undergo repairs from May 12 to November 1. Work will take place on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays. The $1.9 million project is managed by the Department of Public Works and Kaikor Construction Group, Inc., according to the County of Kauai.
The Kīpū Bridge will stay open during construction, but drivers should expect a narrowed lane. The work includes “repairing spalled concrete on the bridge's abutments, piers, and deck, applying a new asphalt overlay, and installing guardrails at both ends of the bridge, along with other necessary repairs.” The bridge’s historical appearance will be maintained. The project is part of a joint budget that also covers repairs to the Kōloa Bridge, as reported by the County of Kauai.
Kīpū Bridge is under renovation and has a 5-ton weight limit to prevent damage. Trucks over this limit must use other routes. Commuters should plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
