The Kauai Division of Motor Vehicles will launch an electronic road test booking system on May 15. The new system allows residents to schedule driving assessments online. According to the County of Kauai, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami said, “We are proud to continue to work towards making our County's services as easy and accessible as possible to the public, we know that booking a road test is stressful enough so we're working on making at least the process easier.”
The Department of Motor Vehicles has launched a new online service allowing applicants to schedule road test appointments through its official website. Users can select the type of test they need—whether for a standard motor vehicle, motorcycle, box truck, or CDL—and follow step-by-step prompts to complete the process. The system guides applicants through selecting their test, entering required information, and making payments, as reported by the County of Kauai.
The Department of Motor Vehicles operates Monday through Friday, excluding state and federal holidays. The Līhu‘e Department of Motor Vehicles accepts walk-ins when available, though appointments are recommended. The Kapa‘a Satellite Department of Motor Vehicles serves customers by appointment only. Seniors aged 65 and older may access early service during designated Kupuna Hour, which follows specific guidelines. For more information or assistance with appointments, the public may visit the official Department of Motor Vehicles website or contact the office directly. Accessibility services, including interpreters and accommodations for individuals with disabilities, are available with advance notice, as stated by the County of Kauai.
