
On Thursday, residential trash pick-up on Kauai was delayed due to manpower shortages and equipment problems, affecting several areas. The delays impacted Hanamaulu, Wailua Houselots, Hanalei, Ha‘ena, Wailua Homesteads, and parts of Kapa‘a. County officials said trash pick-up is expected to resume on Friday, depending on staffing availability, according to the County of Kauai.
The Solid Waste Division reports that delays in refuse pick-up are due to a shortage of staff, a continuing issue in waste management on the island. Waste collection was delayed on Thursday in the communities of Kīlauea and Hanalei. Residents in affected areas are encouraged to contact [email protected] by email, as phone lines are busy, as reported by the County of Kauai.
Manpower shortages are expected to continue causing waste collection delays in Kauai. The division asks residents to be patient and expresses, "Mahalo for your patience and understanding during this time," as stated by the County of Kauai.
