In a move that heralds transformative change, the Kennedale Police Department is currently undergoing significant renovations. Yesterday, a crucial part of this process was witnessed when an old jail cell that once stood at the heart of the station was removed.
The station was constructed around this portable jail in the late '80s to early '90s. In a social media post shared by the Kennedale Police Department, viewers could glimpse the jail’s extraction process: "The front of the building had to be removed as has some of the roof to pull it out. The plan is to lower it and roll it out into the parking lot today and transported off-site tomorrow."
As explained in the Facebook post, the endeavor is ambitious, requiring the rooftop and facade of the building to be removed before the substantial jail cell could be lowered and moved out to freedom into the parking lot.
