This summer, Kingsport's Parks and Recreation Department is rolling out a series of specialty camps designed for children and teenagers, with a focus on a diverse array of activities. According to an announcement on the department's website, each week-long camp gives participants the chance to immerse themselves in specific interests, from video gaming to outdoor exploration.

The first of the camps, Bike Camp, kicks off on June 2. It's aimed at instilling confidence in young riders ages 6-12, with emphasis on safety and fun. In a release obtained by Kingsport's official website, the department elaborates, "Campers will need to bring their own bike and helmet." Following is the Creator Camp, starting June 9 at Allandale Mansion, which promises a mix of engineering, arts, and science-themed days for the same age group.

An Inclusive Camp is on the roster as well, highlighting activities that span arts, sports, and music tailored for campers 14 years and older with diverse interests and abilities. The activities are designed to be adaptive, engaging participants at the V.O. Dobbins Sr Complex from June 16-19. Soon after, E-Sports Camp takes the stage, where 6 to 12-year-olds can hone their gaming skills in popular titles like Fortnite and Rocket League from June 23-27, with a note that gaming consoles will be available, although attendees can bring their own.

The final camp, titled Outdoor Camp, invites kids to connect with nature at Borden Park between July 7-10. "Campers will learn to identify trees, birds and insects along with playing games of disc golf and corn hole," as per the official Kingsport announcement.
