The event occurred late at night on May 17 and, fortunately, did not result in injuries to the occupants of the home. According to a social media post by La Vergne Police Department, K9 Sgt. Darby was crucial in obtaining the description of the suspect's vehicle, enabling its swift location by officers.
With only 20 minutes elapsed before the vehicle was spotted traversing Old Nashville Highway, officers conducted a traffic stop to mitigate further potential hazards that, already shortly after midnight, could have risked further public safety mishaps. Following the stop, Officer Jordan took charge of the investigation and performed field sobriety tests on the driver, which led to the suspect being detained under suspicion of driving under the influence. Subsequent checks uncovered that the driver additionally had active warrants from Smyrna for felony evading and a prior DUI.
