Las Vegas residents and daily commuters should prepare for upcoming traffic disruptions as a series of lane restrictions and delays are set to begin on Tuesday, May 27. The City of Las Vegas has announced that storm drain repairs will commence along Torrey Pines Drive between Shawnee Drive and Bristol Avenue, extending approximately 500 feet to the east and west of Alta Drive as well. According to an official release, the work will involve the removal and replacement of storm drain pipes, requiring road backfill and subsequent repaving.

The restrictions will result in only one through lane for both north- and southbound traffic on Torrey Pines Drive, which will be in effect 24 hours a day until the project's estimated completion date of June 20. Additionally, "Left turns will be prohibited at the intersection of Torrey Pines and Alta during the work," as stated in the city's notification. Work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, weather conditions and equipment availability permitting.

For those looking to navigate around the construction work, the city has suggested using Rainbow Boulevard and Jones Boulevard for north- and southbound detours. Charleston Boulevard is the recommended alternative for east- and westbound traffic. These alternate routes should help steer clear of the expected congestion and contribute to a somewhat smoother commute during the construction period.

The joint effort by the city of Las Vegas and Las Vegas Paving carries an estimated cost tag of $90,000, funded through the city’s Sanitation Enterprise Fund. Drivers and local residents with questions or concerns during the repair period are encouraged to call 702-229-6227 for assistance.
