In a brief public notice, the City of Las Cruces has announced that its Cashiering Program will take an intermission from its public services for a span of two hours on the upcoming Thursday afternoon. According to the City of Las Cruces, the closure is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. on May 22, to accommodate staff training. As a result, city staff will not be on hand to assist customers during these hours.
Despite this temporary downtime, Las Cruces utility customers are not left without options to manage their payments. The city has outlined several alternative payment methods. For instance, there's an after-hours drop-box available for checks and money orders located between the City Hall and the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library. Additionally, those looking to pay outside of business hours can do so over the phone, through a service accessible 24 hours a day at (575) 541-2111/TTY 711, pressing 4 to proceed with electronic checks, or debit and credit payments from Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards.
The City's statement also mentions online payment options such as UtilityHawk, where customers can not only pay their bills but also set up auto-draft to avoid the need for future manual payments. Furthermore, Las Cruces residents have the convenience of using Walmart stores for paying their utility bills in cash, though a nominal $1 service fee applies to these transactions.
