Last Wednesday shortly before 8 p.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a vehicle chase in the north part of the Las Vegas valley. The suspect drove a pickup truck, running red lights and ignoring stop signs. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's AIR5 helicopter located and tracked the vehicle from the air, helping ground units follow the suspect during the pursuit.
AIR5’s fuel was running low, and AIR2 took over aerial surveillance to assist ground officers in establishing a perimeter. Officers, including the K9 unit, located the 20-year-old suspect hiding in a backyard near Alexander and Rancho, as stated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on their Facebook page, the suspect was arrested and faces charges including felony duty to stop at the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and obstructing a public officer. Sheriff Kevin McMahill has reiterated the department’s focus on addressing reckless driving in Las Vegas.
