A League City woman experienced a nightmare scenario when a naked man, later identified as her neighbor, entered her bedroom in the middle of the night with reported intentions of a sexual nature. The incident occurred last month, just after midnight at the CP Waterfront Apartments where the suspect, Juan Hernandez, 49, was later charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a sexual offense as reported by Click2Houston.

The woman, who remained unharmed, explained that she awoke to the feeling of someone touching her leg and upon realizing the gravity of the situation, she screamed and managed to push the intruder away and grab her phone. Hernandez escaped by jumping over the balcony. He has since been apprehended and is being held on a $50,000 bond, alongside, an ICE detainer.

Following the incident, the victim has decided to relocate, citing overwhelming anxiety upon returning to the premises. "Every time I pulled into the parking lot, I’d start shaking and gagging," she told FOX 26 Houston. "It got to the point where I couldn’t live there anymore." Police have urged members of the community to maintain vigilance despite the area's generally perceived safety.

Jose Ortega of the League City Police Department commented on the importance of community alertness after such an event. In the words of the victim who overcame her ordeal, "It’s okay to fight back. You don’t have to let it happen," as per her statement to FOX 26 Houston. Authorities continue to investigate, and Detective Demasi is working to determine if there may be additional victims, encouraging anyone with information to contact him at 281-338-4173.
