Last Friday evening, during a storm that swept through Tarrant County, lightning struck two homes in the Mustang Creek subdivision, causing fires that emergency services were quick to respond to. According to a social media post by Parker County Emergency Services, multiple fire departments, including those from Cresson, Benbrook, Godley, Parker ESD 1, and Edgecliff Village, worked collaboratively to extinguish the fires.
The incident required the assistance of Engine 37, Tanker 34, and Battalion 102 from Parker County Emergency Services, as well as mutual aid assigned to the Tarrant County/Cresson area. Despite the inclement weather, the teams executed a rapid response, saving one of the houses that was more heavily damaged. Due to the efforts of the combined fire crews, they managed to stop the resulting fire and saved 95% of the house.
Residents of the Mustang Creek subdivision were fortunate that no injuries were reported. The prompt and effective action of all involved crews prevented what could have been a far more devastating outcome. The second home affected by the lightning strike sustained considerably less damage, and crews were able to quickly secure the scene.
