A hiker suffered injuries after a fall from a height of nearly 30 feet at Stoney Point Park, a known rock climbing spot in Chatsworth. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the emergency on Sunday evening, dispatching ground and air units to aid the adult male hiker in distress, according to a statement released by the department. The incident, documented as INC#1294, occurred in a challenging section of the park distinguished by its rugged terrain.

Firefighters, who were called to the scene around 7:10 pm as per LAFD alerts, assessed the situation and determined that an aerial rescue was necessary due to the location's remote nature. Stoney Point Park, located east of Topanga Canyon Boulevard and just south of the 118 Freeway, offers climbers an array of routes but also poses significant risks with its rough features.

In need of swift intervention, a rescue helicopter arrived to extract the injured hiker from the precarious position. The LAFD's skilled team managed a delicate operation, where a LAFD flight paramedic was lowered by cable and harness to administer immediate care. The hiker was then secured into a sling for the hoist rescue back into the hovering helicopter, as stated in the LAFD alert.

Spectators from the ground could only watch as the hiker was strapped and airlifted to safety through the surprisingly tranquil evening sky, observed by SkyCal. Upon rescue, the hiker received treatment during the direct helicopter transport to a regional trauma center. While the full extent of the hiker's injuries was not immediately disclosed, the swift response of the firefighters ensured that he was quickly attended to. The condition of the hiker after arriving at the hospital remains unknown according to a report by CBS News Los Angeles.
