Get ready to adjust your commute if you're traveling through Andrew County on Interstate 29. A major resurfacing project is set to temporarily close several key ramps starting tomorrow. MoDOT, in collaboration with Herzog Contracting Corp., announced the closures as a part of necessary improvements to the worn interstate surface. The work is scheduled to kick off tomorrow, and it's expected to disrupt traffic patterns around the county.

The closures are due to begin with the northbound I-29 ramp to/from Business 71 (Exit 53 to Savannah) and the northbound I-229 to northbound I-29 (Exit 14C) on Wednesday, May 14. Intermittent ramp closures will continue to roll out until May 19, affecting, among others, the northbound I-29 to northbound U.S. Route 71 (Exit 56A) and the northbound I-29 to/from U.S. Route 59 (Exit 65 to Filmore). Motorists will need to find alternate routes between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. when the ramps will be closed to facilitate the resurfacing work.

All this construction is weather-permitting, with the understanding that schedules could shift depending on the whims of Mother Nature. Drivers are advised to stay informed about potentially changing conditions by checking in with MoDOT's updates.

MoDOT has put out a call to drivers, asking them to help ensure safety around the work zones. "MoDOT asks drivers to work with us by always buckling up, keeping your phone down, slowing down and moving over in work zones," reads a statement from MoDOT's website.
