Drivers and bus riders, note that significant changes are coming to Spring Garden Road in Reserve. Starting June 2, a stretch of the road will be out of commission until September for major construction projects. The Department of Public Works has announced that the section between Ramage Road and Beech Street will be closed for the construction of a roadway support structure, repairs to the road itself, and upgrades to curbs and pavement markings, as announced by Allegheny County.
This road work will undoubtedly impact traffic flow and Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) services. To adjust, PRT has announced a detour for the 7-Spring Garden bus route, guiding inbound buses along Mt. Troy Road, Ivory Avenue, Evergreen Road, East Street, Mt. Pleasant Road, and Beech Street. Moreover, five bus stops will be temporarily discontinued during this period. However, convenience remains a priority, so temporary stops have been established on Beech Street at Spring Garden Road and on Spring Garden Road opposite Beech Street for affected riders.
Commuters driving through the Reserve will also need to plan alternative routes. Signposted detours will direct regular vehicle traffic via Spring Garden Avenue, Vinial Street, Troy Hill Road, Lowrie Street, Ley Street, Rialto Street, Pittview Avenue, and Mt. Troy Road.
Questions about the changes to the bus route and services can be directed to PRT Customer Service, available at 412-442-2000, on Twitter at @pghtransitcare, or through live chat on the PRT website.
