
Early Friday morning, an incident in Oregon City ended with a man dead after he reportedly opened fire on a police officer and then turned the gun on himself. Oregon City Police Department responded to a call concerning a domestic disturbance in the 13300 block of Clairmont Way around 5 a.m., as reported by OregonLive. Officers encountered the armed individual in the middle of an altercation on the street.
During the confrontation, the man fired a shot at a police officer, who then returned fire, as detailed by KPTV. Subsequently, the man shot himself and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The identity of the man has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Following the incident, the officer involved has been placed on routine leave, which is standard practice in such situations. The shooting is under thorough investigation by the Clackamas County Major Crimes Team and the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office, according to KATU.
