
A fatal shooting by Fontana police has ended the life of a man following a domestic dispute call, according to local authorities. CBS Los Angeles reported that on Sunday morning, at an apartment in the 9100 block of Date Avenue, Fontana police engaged the suspect who purportedly aimed a firearm at them as the door was opened.
Responding to the incident, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is carrying out the primary investigation into the shooting. As reported by KTLA here, a firearm was recovered from the scene where the suspect was shot after pointing a gun at officers, prompting them to discharge their weapons. Despite receiving on-site medical aid, the man succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
The name of the deceased man has been withheld, as disclosed by NBC Los Angeles in their coverage. Fontana police are conducting an internal administrative review simultaneously with the Sheriff's Department's investigation. The incident did not result in any injuries to the officers involved.
