
The Metropolitan Police Department is in the midst of an investigation following a harrowing incident that left one man dead on Ogden Street in Northwest D.C. The fatal shooting occurred on Sunday evening, May 25th, according to a public release from the department. Fourth District officers found the victim at approximately 6:11 p.m. in an apartment after being called for a shooting report.
Responders discovered Jose Carcamo, 59, the apartment's resident, suffering from a gunshot wound. Although DC Fire and EMS arrived promptly at the scene, Carcamo was pronounced dead after all efforts to save his life were exhausted. It was established that the shooting took place in an alley behind the apartment complex with one stray bullet, having found its way into Carcamo’s window, tragically leading to his death. The victim was not believed to be the intended target of the gunshot.
The Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information related to this crime to come forward. As stated in their release, the department is offering "a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia."
