
The streets of Northwest once again became a grim crime scene when a man was fatally shot on 14th Street, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident unfolded early Tuesday morning, when Third District officers were dispatched following reports of gunfire, according to an MPD release. Upon their arrival at the 1600 block, they discovered an adult male victim, later identified as 35-year-old Henry Crutchfield from Waldorf, MD, who was pronounced dead at the scene after succumbing to a gunshot wound.
Around 3:59 a.m., police responded to gunshots and found a man unconscious and not breathing. DC Fire and EMS confirmed he was dead, and the street became the scene of a homicide investigation. The city urges anyone with information to come forward, with the MPD offering a $25,000 reward for tips that lead to an arrest and conviction.
Henry Crutchfield's identity was shared by police as part of a call to the public for any valuable information that could aid the investigation, as per the official press release.
