
A fatal shooting on Detroit's west side yesterday morning has resulted in one man's death and another in custody. According to WXYZ, the incident occurred in the 700 block of Grand Boulevard. Detroit Police responded to what has been described as a dispute leading to gunfire. The name of the deceased male has not been released, and details surrounding the confrontation have not been made public.
The shooting, which did not pose a threat to the broader community, unfolded while the city was celebrating the Cinco De Mayo parade. Even though it happened near the parade route, Metropolitan Division Commander Ian Severy assured, "There is no threat to the community," as reported by WXYZ. Similarly, Severy confirmed the incident "had no impact on the parade."
The suspect connected with the shooting is currently cooperating with Homicide detectives, a detail that CBS Detroit has confirmed. However, whether the suspect and the victim were acquainted before the incident remains unclear.
