The unidentified man, found with a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body, was lying on the sidewalk when the police arrived, leading them into the night, peering with flashlights, scouring for answers. "They rendered medical aid until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and determined the victim deceased," a spokesperson for the Long Beach Police Department stated in an email obtained by KTLA.
The Long Beach Police Department released further details, saying, "At approximately 10:59 p.m., officers responded to a shots call." This information was part of an official statement regarding the murder investigation published on the Long Beach Government website.
Detectives are struggling to piece together the events that led to the man’s death, working tirelessly to identify possible suspects as the trigger's pull sent a life into the void. "Homicide detectives are investigating the motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting," according to details provided by the Long Beach Police Department on their website. In the same statement, the department also encourages anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact Homicide Detectives Leticia Gamboa and Oscar Valenzuela.
