A 39-year-old woman was fatally shot in her driveway on Upper Lake Drive in Atascocita on Sunday night, shortly after returning from a club with a friend. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the woman was shot multiple times by her ex-boyfriend as she got out of the car. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large, with deputies conducting an intense manhunt, according to Click2Houston.
KHOU reports that deputies found the victim in the front yard, where she was pronounced dead. Harris County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Sidney Miller from the homicide unit stated that the suspect likely ambushed the victim as she pulled into her driveway and chased her toward the street.
The relationship between the suspect and the victim was described as "tumultuous," and it was confirmed that the man did not live at the woman's home. Authorities stated, "We kind of have an idea of who he could possibly be," but added, "But at this point, we’re kind of keeping it under wraps until we can confirm that information." Miller also urged anyone in an abusive relationship to "[try] to get out of it as best as you can, as quick as you can," as mentioned by KHOU. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking for public help.
