
An officer-involved shooting took place in the parking lot of the In-N-Out Burger at 1490 E Yosemite Ave in Manteca. The incident caused a police confrontation at the fast-food restaurant, as reported by the Manteca Police Department.
At about 5:05 PM, Manteca police responded to a disturbance involving a man in a white van in a drive-thru line. Police say the man used the van to hit a police vehicle. Officers tried to de-escalate the situation for about 20 minutes. The man then reportedly drove forward and hit at least two more police vehicles. Officers fired their weapons. The man was taken to a hospital. Police said no officers were hurt, as stated by the Manteca Police Department.
According to the Manteca Police Department's Facebook page, the San Joaquin County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol has been activated for an investigation near the In-N-Out Burger in Manteca. The agencies involved include the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, the California Department of Justice Crime Lab, and the Manteca Police Department. The area is currently closed to the public while the scene is being processed. Police have asked for the public’s cooperation, and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
