Maple Heights Fire Department responded to a residential fire yesterday in the 5500 block of Morgan Street. According to a social media post by MHFD, the incident occurred around 5:00 PM, and crews were able to bring the blaze under control quickly.
The department reportedly used two handlines to manage the situation. In a stroke of fortune, all occupants of the home, including two canine companions, escaped harm. Firefighters heroically rescued one of the dogs, subsequently administering oxygen and water to aid its recovery. This action reflects the department's commitment to safeguarding not only human residents but also their beloved pets in emergency scenarios.
Despite the progress made in controlling the fire, the affected family must seek alternative accommodations as their home undergoes necessary repairs. The utilities to the house have been secured, and boarding-up measures are being implemented as a safety protocol during the recovery phase.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under active investigation. In the rapid response to the incident, MHFD was not alone.
