Los Angeles burger enthusiasts have a new hotspot to add to their summer bucket list as Marathon Burger is set to open its second location on the Venice Beach Boardwalk this Saturday, May 31. The eagerly anticipated debut comes hot on the heels of the restaurant's well-received launch on Melrose earlier in March.
The expansion couldn't come at a better time, with summer knocking on the door and the Venice Boardwalk buzzing with anticipatory vibes. Samiel "Blacc Sam" Asghedom, Nipsey Hussle's brother and the driving force behind the Marathon brand, was quick to capitalize on the opportunity to "kind of jump on it," as he told Eater LA. Despite not planning to open a second location so soon, the fate of the former burger spot on the boardwalk serendipitously led them to expand.
Located at 1827 Ocean Front Walk, the new Marathon Burger promises to serve up a more streamlined menu featuring smash burgers, hot wings, and a vegan option, in addition to introducing a special double cheeseburger. Notably absent from this location's offerings will be the salads, mushroom burger, and milkshakes available at the Melrose branch. The move is clearly designed to expedite service during the inevitable rushes of hungry beachgoers. Asghedom's team shared via an Instagram post that they're inviting everyone to "pull up on us" for the grand opening celebration set to commence at 2:00 p.m.
The Marathon brand, known for its diverse blend of music, fashion, entertainment, and culinary endeavors, honors Hussle's legacy of promoting economic independence among Black entrepreneurs. Asghedom's efforts to continue expanding the brand are evident in his forward-looking vision. He acknowledges the potential for additional locations in the future, stating to Eater LA, "We have a location we're eyeing, but I don't know if it will be location four or five. We're trying to figure out the best strategic location."
Marathon Burger Venice is set to welcome guests from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with late-night delivery running from 10:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. to cater to the late-night cravings of locals and tourists alike. This beachfront eatery, nestled in one of Southern California's prime tourist attractions, is ready to satiate hamburger lovers and support the community's bustling food scene just in time for the summer season.
